Did you know that over 28 million small businesses were tallied in 2013 for the United States by the Small Business Administration? That makes up over 3/4 of businesses spanning your local grocers, coffee shops, boutiques, designers, restauranteurs and more.

We are all familiar with the "Small Business Saturday" movement to support shopping local and small during the busiest retail season of the year but how often are you celebrating these businesses outside of the holidays?

Founded by Rick and Margie Segel, National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day honors couples like his parents whose successful hat shop opened in 1939 and grew into a 10,000 square feet and $2 million dollar clothing store. So in honor of fellow small businesses, I've chosen some of my favorite communities and businesses within them to celebrate #nationalmomandpopbusinessday today, March 29th!

Many of these shops and restaurants offer a unique experience between the ambiance and product that sets them apart from large chain companies. Learn more about each of my favorite spots by clicking on the photo to view their website.
